Item SMART ANALYSIS OF THE ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTY OF HUMAN CERUMEN AND STANDARD ANTIBIOTICS AGAINST SELECTED ISOLATE(2024) Hamdalat Faderera BALOGUNThis study explores the antimicrobial properties of human cerumen and its potential application in treating skin diseases. Cerumen, a complex mixture of sebaceous and apocrine gland secretion along with epithelial debris serve as a protective barrier for the ear canal. Despite traditional application of cerumen in treating skin aliments, there is a notables scarcity of research validating its therapeutic efficacy. The primary objective of this research is to investigate the susceptibility pattern of staphylococcus aureus to both commercial antibiotics and human cerumen. Earwax sample were collected from consenting individuals , followed by rigorous microbiological analyses to assess the antimicrobial activity of cedrumen against selected clinical isolates. This study also delves into the significant issues of antimicrobial resistance, which complicate the treatment of skin infections by rendering conventional drugs ineffective. Our findings demonstrate that cerumen possess substantial antimicrobial properties , inhibiting the growth of various pathogen, including drug resistance strain of S.aureus. In conclusion , thus study support the hypothesis that human cerumen could serve as a viable alternative to traditional antibiotics .It shows that s.aureus samples shows 0.00mm , while E.coli samples count varies from sample 1 to sample 7 (5.00mm, 7.00mm, 3.15mm, 4.00mm, 5.00mm, 3.00mm, 8.00mm). Both bacteria showed different sensitivities to the antibiotic tested, in this study it was both tested on nine antibiotics each (CPR,OFL,AMO,STRE,SUL,CH,CEP,PE,E) and has illutrated in (Table 4.2) it shows that out of those nine antibiotics used staph.a has no positive effect on any of it while e.coli has positive effect on 4 of the antibiotic (AMO,STRE,SUL,CH) where the highest to the lowest range from 11.00 to 5.00 (Ashley EA, Shetty N,Patel J et al., 2020).
