    PERCEIVED INFLUENCE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE NEWS SCHEDULING ON OKIN FM IN KWARA STATE

    This study examines the perceived influence of artificial intelligence news scheduling on Okin FM in Kwara State. The adoption of automated news scheduling has transformed the way news is disseminated, raising questions about its impact on the broadcast industry. This research investigates the effects of automated news scheduling on news content, broadcast quality, and listener engagement at Okin FM. The findings reveal both positive and negative impacts, including increased efficiency, consistency, and reduced labor costs, as well as concerns about homogenization, lack of personal touch, and potential job losses. The study concludes by discussing the implications of artificial intelligence news scheduling for the broadcast industry and offering recommendations for Okin FM to maximize its benefits while mitigating its drawbacks. Three research questions were designed t0 proffer answers to objectives formulated. The study adopted the Innovation-Diffusion theory. In-depth interview guide was used. The study used in-depth interview guide as its data collection instruments from the program producer of the station. It explores the benefits and challenges of automation, including increased efficiency and consistency, as well as concerns about homogenization and job losses. The results shed light on how automation affects broadcast media and provide Okin FM advice on how to optimize advantages and minimize disadvantages. This helps to clarify how media automation is changing the radio landscape in Nigeria.

    INFLUENCE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON ETHICAL PRACTICES OF SENIOR JOURNALISTS AMONG SELECTED NATIONAL NEWSPAPERS IN NIGERIA

    This study explores the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the ethical practices of senior journalists in selected national newspapers in Nigeria. As AI technologies increasingly permeate global newsrooms, their impact on journalism, particularly in developing countries like Nigeria, warrants critical examination. The objectives of AI among senior journalists at major Nigerian daily newspapers, including Punch, The Nation, and Vanguard were to (i) to Identify the level of awareness of AI tools among senior journalists in Nigeria, (ii) to investigate the kind of ethical practices among senior journalists in Nigeria, (iii) to assess how senior journalists in Nigeria are using AI to solve false reportage, (iv) to Identify how AI can be used for automated reports among senior journalists in Nigeria. Employing a quantitative approach, data was collected through a structured survey of (122) journalists using a Stratified sampling technique, analyzing how AI tools are integrated into news production and their implications for journalistic integrity. The findings highlight that while AI enhances operational efficiency and data-driven reporting, it simultaneously raises concerns about the erosion of traditional journalistic skills, transparency, accountability, and the potential for algorithmic bias. Therefore, Influence of AI on ethical practices of senior journalist among selected national newspapers in Nigeria contributes to the theoretical discourse on Technological Determinism and offers practical insights for journalism education and policy development, emphasizing the need for robust ethical guidelines to govern AI usage in Nigerian newsrooms. The research underscores the importance of maintaining professional integrity in an era of AI-driven journalism to ensure public trust and uphold democratic values.

    USAGE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN DETECTING FAKE NEWS DURING THE 2023 GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION IN OFFA, KWARA STATE.

    The study examined the usage of artificial intelligence in detecting fake News during the 2923 gubernatorial election in Offa, Kwara State The objectives of the study were to (i) determine e level awareness of Artificial intelligence tools used to detect fake news during the 2023 gubernatorial election in Kwara State. (ii) Determine the perception of artificial intelligence tools in detecting fake news during the 2023 gubernatorial election among Offa TV bloggers in Kwara State. (iii) Examine the influence of artificial intelligence tools in detecting and filtering fake news during 2023 gubernatorial election in Kwara state. This study made use of Cross-sectional research design and survey research was adopted as the research method. One hundred and ten available bloggers constituted the population of the study. A total of one hundred and ten served as the sample size which was drawn from the total population of Offa TV bloggers in Kwara State by subjecting the population to the census. Questionnaires were used to collect data which was analyzed with statistical methods indicating frequency, percentages, mean, and standard deviation. The study found that there is a positive perception on level of awareness of artificial intelligence tools in detecting fake news during the 2023 gubernatorial election. Also, there is a positive the perception of artificial intelligence tools in detecting fake news during the 2023 gubernatorial election among Offa TV bloggers in Kwara State. More so, the impact of artificial intelligence tools in detecting and filtering fake news during 2023 gubernatorial election in Kwara state. The study, therefore, recommends that;

    ADOPTION AND USAGE OF ARTIFCIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR JOURNALISTIC PRATICES AMONG JOURNALISTS IN KWARA STATE.

    The study examined the perceived effect of artificial intelligence on ethical journalism among journalists in Kwara State. The objectives of the study were to (i) determine the level of awareness of artificial intelligence for journalistic practice among journalists in Kwara State. (ii) examine the artificial intelligence tools for journalistic practice among journalists in Kwara State. (iii) determine the usage of artificial intelligence tools for the journalistic practice among journalists in Kwara State (iv) determine the effect of artificial intelligence on journalistic practice on journalists in Kwara State. This study made use of Cross-sectional research design and survey research was adopted as the research method. Two hundred and five available journalists constituted the population of the study. A total of one hundred and thirty-four served as the sample size which was drawn from the total population of Journalists in Kwara State by subjecting the population to the Krejcie and Morgan table. Questionnaires were used to collect data which was analyzed with statistical methods indicating frequency, percentages, mean, and standard deviation. The study found that there is a positive perception and a notable level of awareness, among journalists in Kwara State regarding artificial intelligence tools for journalistic practice. Also, there is a positive outlook among journalists in Kwara State towards various artificial intelligence tools used for journalistic practice. Moreso, journalists in Kwara State have a high level of usage of artificial intelligence, as they actively incorporate AI tools into their daily work routines, lastly, artificial intelligence tools have significantly enhanced the speed and efficiency of news gathering and production, leading to improved accuracy and fact-checking in journalism practices in Kwara State. The study, therefore, recommends that; media organizations should foster more public awareness about AI's role in journalism to foster trust and understanding among audiences. Communicate how AI tools enhance accuracy, storytelling, and data analysis in news reporting, and invest in training programs to upskill journalists on how to effectively use artificial intelligence tools for their reporting, as this will empower journalists to make the most out of AI technologies and leverage them to enhance the quality of their stories.

    USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) TOOL FOR PREVENTING DUPLICATION OF FAKE NEWS ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AMONG STUDENTS OF KWARA STATE UNIVERSITY, MALETE

    This project investigates the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to prevent the duplication of fake news on social media platforms among Kwara State University students. A quantitative survey approach was employed, with data collected from 150 students through questionnaires distributed on social media. Findings indicate students recognize the potential of AI tools, like natural language processing and machine learning algorithms, in detecting duplicate fake news. However, there are diverging opinions on AI's overall impact in significantly reducing fake news duplications and increasing users' trust in social media. Recommendations emphasize media literacy promotion and user education to enhance AI's effectiveness in investigate how artificial intelligence (AI) tool can be used in preventing the duplication of fake news on social media platforms. The objectives of the study were to: identify the AI tool that can be used in preventing the duplication of fake news on social media platform (ii) use the AI tool for preventing the duplication of fake news and (iii) assess efficiency of AI-based tool in preventing the duplication of fake news on social media platform. A quantitative research design that entails the collection and analysis of numerical data to identify patterns, relationships, and trends relevant to the research topic was adopted. The study population was the 556 mass communication department students. Systematic sampling techniques was used to determine the sample size of 272 and simple random sampling techniques was used in selecting the sample size. The research design employed was quantitative survey and the data were collected with the help on online questionnaires (google form). Out of the 274 questionnaires share online, 124 respondents fill, complete and submit the questionnaires, thus, the 124 respondents were used for the data analysis. Findings revealed that, majority of respondents agreed with the effectiveness of AI tools in detecting duplicate fake news. Also, the respondents agreed that AI tools can analyze user behavior, compare news articles, monitor social media platforms, and provide AI-based recommendations however, respondents disagreed with the notion that AI tools have significantly reduced the duplication of fake news, minimized its spread, increased users' trust in social media platforms, and reduced the impact on public perception and trust in media. It was recommended that; AI tools should be used in conjunction with human moderators to ensure a comprehensive and accurate detection of duplicated fake news. Human oversight and expertise can help overcome the limitations of AI algorithms.

    PERCEPTION AND IMPACT OF CACOPHONOUS INFORMATION, MISINFORMATION AND CONSPIRACY THEORIES ON CORONAVIRUS AMONG LAGOS STATE RESIDENTS

The objectives of the study were to (i) determine the sources of misinformation, cacophonous information, and conspiracy theories about Coronavirus among Lagos State Residents; (ii) determine the level of exposure to media that carries misinformation, cacophonous information, and conspiracy theories about Coronavirus among Lagos State Residents; (iii) determine the perception of Lagos State residents on misinformation, cacophonous information, and conspiracy theories about Coronavirus; (iv) find out the impact of Coronavirus misinformation, cacophonous information, and conspiracy theories on Lagos State residents; (v) determine possible solution to mitigate the impact of Coronavirus misinformation, cacophonous information and conspiracy theories among Lagos State residents. A descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. Stratified sampling and simple random sampling techniques were used to select the Local Government Area used in the study. Fourteen million, eight hundred and sixty-two thousand, one hundred and one constituted the population for the study. A total of three hundred and eighty-four Lagos state residents which served as the sample size was drawn from the total population of Lagos State Residents using Krejcie and Morgan table. Questionnaires were used to collect data which was analyzed with statistical method indicating frequency, percentages, mean and standard deviation. The study made the following findings: 1. Facebook was the most preferred social media platform that gives news update on Coronavirus information (43%) while Twitter has (26.6%) and WhatsApp with (30.3%). 2. Moderate attention is given to media that carries Coronavirus updates (51.7%). 3.Residents’ perception on Coronavirus misinformation, cacophonous information and conspiracy theories is that Coronavirus is a virus whose genes were handled by scientists inside a laboratory in Wuhan, China to discover a vaccine against the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV/AIDS) but accidentally escaped from the laboratory (M= 3.0, SD= 1.3). 4. Impact of Coronavirus misinformation, cacophonous information, and conspiracy theories on Lagos State residents is that it led to overdose of hydroxychloroquine (M= 3,0, SD= 1.2). 5. To mitigate the impact of Coronavirus misinformation, cacophonous information and conspiracy theories among Lagos State residents, scientist should make available their expertise to journalists and fact-checkers in order to help debunk misinformation (M= 3.2, SD= 1.2). The research concluded that information passed through these social media platforms influences the perception of Lagos state residents about Coronavirus. It was therefore recommended that World Health Organization (WHO) should partner wit ritical updates from healthcare agencies.

    USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN ANALYZING PREVALENCE NEWS FRAME IN NIGERIAN 2022 POLITICAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN

    The study examined the use of Artificial Intelligence in analyzing prevalence news frame in Nigerian 2022 political election campaign with a view to determining the elements of frames and directions of reportage used in the Punch, Guardian and Nation newspapers. The objectives of the study are to (i) To determine the direction of news frame of 2022 political election using artificial intelligence (ii) To investigate the prominence of news frame of 2022 political election campaign through artificial intelligence (iii) To investigate the prevalence news frame of 2022 political election campaign through artificial. Content analysis will be adopted. For content analysis approach, the population involved all Nigerian newspapers. Purposive sampling technique was used to select three newspapers: Punch, Guardian and the Nation. This study will use a cross-sectional design to analyze the prevalence of news frames in Nigerian 2022 political election campaigns using artificial intelligence. Quantitative Content Analysis will be used to examine and analyze the news articles published by Punch, Guardian and Nation newspapers during the period of October 1st, 2022, to December 31st, 2022. The sample size will be 159, which was calculated using the Krejcie & Morgan formula. Coding sheets and coding guides will be used to collect and analyze the data. Statistical methods will be used to analyze the data and generate frequency and percentage tables.

    Journalists’ Perception of Artificial Intelligence in Transforming News Reporting in Ilorin Metropolis

    This study investigates the perceptions of journalists regarding the integration of artificial intelligence (Al) in transforming news reporting within Ilorin Metropolis. The objectives of the study were to (i) to investigate journalists’ awareness of artificial intelligence in transforming news reporting in Ilorin Metropolis, (ii) to evaluate journalists’ perception towards artificial intelligence in transforming news reporting in Ilorin Metropolis, (iii) to assess the ethical implications of artificial intelligence in transforming news reporting amongst journalists in Ilorin Metropolis. Utilizing a cross-sectional research design, data were collected from a diverse sample of two hundred and three (203) journalists through simple random sampling. The findings revealed a moderate level of awareness and a generally positive attitude towards Al ls potential to enhance news quality, although concerns about creativity, ethical implications, and job security persist. This research underscores the need for journalists to engage critically with Al technologies, balancing innovation with ethical considerations to ensure transparency and accountability in transforming news reporting in Ilorin Metropolis.

    PERCEIVED INFLUENCE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INTEGRATION ON SMART MEDIA STATION AMONG USERS OF SPOTIFY IN NIGERIA

    The study examined the perceived influence of artificial intelligence integration on smart media stations among users of Spotify in Nigeria As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to revolutionize various industries, its integration into smart media stations has become a focal point of research and development. The objectives of the study were to (i) determine the level of awareness of artificial intelligence integration into smart media station among users of Spotify in Nigeria (ii) determine the perception of users of Spotify in Nigeria on the integration of artificial intelligence into smart media station and (iii) determine the influence of artificial intelligence integration into smart media stations among users of Spotify in Nigeria. This study made use of Cross-sectional research design and survey research was adopted as the research method. One million, three hundred thousand Spotify users across Nigeria constituted the population of the study. A total of three hundred and eighty-five served as the sample size which was drawn from the total population of Spotify users in Nigeria by subjecting the population to the Krejcie and Morgan table. Online questionnaires were used to collect data which was analyzed with statistical method indicating frequency, percentages, mean and standard deviation. The study found out that users have realized that artificial intelligence algorithms are actively involved in making personalized playlists, curating music recommendations, and improving the overall user interface; that widespread use of smart gadgets and virtual assistants that are driven by AI has played a key impact in molding user awareness and knowledge of AI integration in media outlets like Spotify. Lastly the study found out that there is a very high level of comprehension and awareness among Spotify users in Nigeria regarding the incorporation of artificial intelligence into smart media stations. The study therefore recommended that; it is imperative for Spotify to maintain a strong emphasis on effective communication pertaining to AI-powered functionalities; the platform allocate resources towards enhancing and broadening its AI algorithms; and Proactively solicit feedback from users regarding AI-driven functionalities and leverage this feedback to enhance and optimize the integration of AI, among other recommendations.

    The study examined the influence of Artificial Intelligence in promoting song among Audiomack users in kwara state, Nigeria. As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to revolutionize various industries, its impact on the music sector has been significant. The objectives of the study were to (i) determine the level of awareness of songs promotion on Audiomack among Audiomack users in Kwara State, Nigeria. (ii) examine the current Artificial Intelligence tools employed for promoting songs on Audiomack and (iii) determine the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence tools for song promotion on Audiomack. This study made use of Cross-sectional research design and survey research was adopted as the research method. Online questionnaire was administered to a sample size of three hundred and eighty-four Audiomack users, using Cochran formula for infinite populations. Online questionnaires were used to collect data which was analysed with statistical method indicating frequency, percentages, mean and standard deviation. The study found out that users have realized that artificial intelligence algorithms are actively involved in making personalized playlists, curating music recommendations, and improving the overall user interface. Lastly, the study therefore recommends that; efforts should be made to increase users’ awareness of song promotion features on Audiomack through targeted educational campaigns; developers of AI tools should work to reduce biases that favor mainstream artists, ensuring fair promotion opportunities for independent and emerging artists; continuous improvements should be made to AI algorithms to ensure that promoted content is relevant to users’ preferences, enhancing their overall experience; collaboration between Audiomack, artists, and AI developers can help create more effective and equitable promotion strategies
