dc.description.abstractThis study investigates the perceptions of journalists regarding the integration of artificial intelligence (Al) in transforming news reporting within Ilorin Metropolis. The objectives of the study were to (i) to investigate journalists’ awareness of artificial intelligence in transforming news reporting in Ilorin Metropolis, (ii) to evaluate journalists’ perception towards artificial intelligence in transforming news reporting in Ilorin Metropolis, (iii) to assess the ethical implications of artificial intelligence in transforming news reporting amongst journalists in Ilorin Metropolis. Utilizing a cross-sectional research design, data were collected from a diverse sample of two hundred and three (203) journalists through simple random sampling. The findings revealed a moderate level of awareness and a generally positive attitude towards Al ls potential to enhance news quality, although concerns about creativity, ethical implications, and job security persist. This research underscores the need for journalists to engage critically with Al technologies, balancing innovation with ethical considerations to ensure transparency and accountability in transforming news reporting in Ilorin Metropolis.
